So, you’ve planned an extended family vacation and you want to make sure this time together is professionally documented…as you should! It’s a big deal that all of your family members have made the effort and time to spend a dedicated vacation with one another. Life has a way of moving quickly, and island time is the perfect way to slow it down.

Here are my top 3 tips for making your extended family session a success:
Mindset is Everything: Seriously…everything! Remember the why behind getting these photos done. Think of it as just an added fun activity to your vacation. Don’t stress it.

Make room for your photo session in the first few days of your vacation. We get a lot of storms and rain on Topsail in the summer months, so this allows time for a reschedule if necessary.

Find a photographer who has experience photographing extended families and kids. Photographing extended families is much different than a single family unit session, even if your extended family shoot only consists of 7-8 people. Session flow, flexibility, and efficiency are all super important in creating a session that moves with ease and fun.
