I love the whole natural thing, but we're awkward..will you help us?

Okay, I hear you. I think most of us feel a bit strange about the thought of someone up in our business with a camera for an hour (myself included.) Yes, of course I will help you. I'll prompt you and guide you to create reactions that are authentic. I'll work with hair and wind. I'll play games with your kids. We'll listen to music. I'll also just be a quiet observer sometimes. I've got you.

Will you photoshop us?

Yes and no. Mostly no. I'll remove distracting background objects or people and wild flyaways. Sometimes a kiddo has a distracting scratch or a big ol' booger. Sometimes you get a zit the night before your photoshoot that drives you insane. Those are gone (if you'd like)... but I am not about transforming bodies. If that's what you're looking for, I am not your photographer. You are beautiful as you are.

What if the weather is awful or one of us gets sick? Can we reschedule?

Of course! That's life (and that's also what your retainer is for.) If the weather is dangerous or downright disgusting, we will reschedule. If you are vacationing, I always recommend scheduling your session in the first few days just in case we need to reschedule. 

How many photos can we expect?

Yes! ...and I am so excited to be able to do this, because your investment should absolutely be printed and many quick photo printing services simply do not do professional photographs justice. I partner with a professional-photographers-only printing lab. After our session, you have the option to schedule a complimentary design appointment with me to order printed
products - everything from beautifully boxed fine art prints, albums,
framed/matted wall art, and more.

Do you travel?

Enthusiastically, yes. Please inquire about travel packages. I will wander and I will roam.

When and where do shoots take place?

In general, shoots take place around the hour before sunset for optimal lighting (when our session is outdoors.) If you have an indoor location or other idea in mind, though, let's chat. I get most excited about activities and locations that are special to clients. Are coffee shop dates special to you? Bike rides? Surfing in the morning? Fishing? Hiking? Let's do it.

I'm not sure my little ones are up for a shoot..what do you think?

I'll start by saying I'm a mom and former elementary + environmental educator. I won't go so far as to say I'm a kid whisperer, but when sessions involve littles (of any age) I'm all about going with the flow. We'll play, explore, laugh, race, dance, and chat. Snacks go a long way. We'll take their lead. Please don't stress it.

When will we receive our images?

This depends on your package selection. Essential and standard portrait galleries are delivered within three weeks of your image selections. Premiere packages are delivered within three weeks of your shoot. Wedding and elopement galleries are delivered within eight weeks. 

What should we wear?

First and foremost - clothing you feel comfortable moving in. We will be moving. If you find yourself trying on something you only like with certain angles, scrap it. Neutral pallets and earth tones are universally flattering. That doesn't mean everything has to be beige and solid - deep and rich tones, texture, and subtle patterns are lovely. As much as I am about go with the flow, this really does make a huge difference in your photographs because they ensure that the focus is you and not your clothing.

Can I purchase unedited images?

Almost exclusively, no. 8-10 hours goes into editing each portrait gallery. My editing style represents my brand. Commercial shoots where I'm releasing the copyright to images are the only exception.
